                                Obituary

Surrounded by his beloved children, Bevan Carl Hol, 68, of Eddyville, Iowa passed away on Tuesday October 19, 2021 at the University Hospital of Iowa. He was born to Henry and Alice (McDonough) Hol November 10, 1952. Bevan grew up in Tracy along with one sister and two brothers. He graduated  in 1971 from Twin Cedars High School. Bevan was united in marriage to Debra Peek on July 6, 1973. They made their home in Oskaloosa, then moved to Pella where they spent most of their married years before moving to Eddyville. Together they raised their son Jason and their daughter Alisha. On January 1, 2001, Bevan married Jeanne Stewart Burger who passed away five years later.

Bevan worked for Wright’s Tree Service before becoming an employee at Pella Corp where he remained for over 40 years. After his retirement, Bevan worked part time at the Eddyville Raceway Park in addition to working as a Census Taker.

In his earlier years, Bevan was a Cadet Leader and assisted with Boy Scouts. Throughout the years, he had many hobbies including hunting, fishing and camping. Bevan enjoyed conversing with CB and Ham Radio operators. He liked going to the racetrack and watching sports. Bevan was a Steelers and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. For many years he biked on the trails at Red Rock. Later in life, Bevan spent his time with woodworking projects, Geocaching, and racing RC cars, but the highlight for him was traveling to Florida to visit his children. Bevan was a valued member of the Mahaska County CERT. He was also an active member of the Eddyville Historical Museum.

Bevan’s children have many fond memories of fishing, camping and tobogganing. They especially enjoyed family vacations traveling to Disney World, Daytona Beach and the Smoky Mountains. Jason holds dear the special memories of his dad setting up treasure hunts. Some of Alisha’s cherished memories are of her dad pulling her in a wagon and ice skating at the Sunken Garden Pond.

Left to honor his memory are Bevan’s son Jason Hol, daughter Alisha Oman, stepsons Scott Warnick, Shawn Warnick, Warren Burger, Wade Burger, brother Larry (Margo) Hol, grandson Carter Hol along with  four nieces and seven nephews,

In addition to his parents, Bevan was preceded in death by his most recent partner, Jennifer Mathias Shively, his wife Jeanne, a brother Alan Hol and a sister Marajan LeMay.

Bevan will be fondly remembered for always lending a helping hand and his great sense of humor. He always had a joke or a story to share. He left behind wonderful memories for all who knew him. Bevan will be truly missed.

As per his wishes, Bevan has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The information will be posted on this site as well as Facebook. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mahaska County CERT or Eddyville Historical Museum. Information for both organizations can be found online or via Facebook.

A special thanks to Mahaska County Hospital and ambulance as well as the University Hospital of Iowa for the care provided to Bevan during his final days. Your kindness and support was greatly appreciated.
